I have decided to explore a career in art that appeals to many of my personal interests/passions: film costume design. This position means that you work on projects for a certain film and are responsible for designing and creating the costumes that are to be worn by the characters on set. This job appeals to my interest in wearable art and love of creating unique and creative types of clothing.
Most of the people who work in this field have at least a bachelor's degrees or all the way up to a masters degrees in costuming. College majors in fashion and costuming are the most applicable. Some of the top colleges for these programs are SCAD and California Institute for the Arts. Having this job would mean you hold responsibility for extremely strict deadlines as well as making costumes that are functional, comfortable, and fit the theme of the scene or film well.
