One job in the art field that I have an interest in pursuing is interior design. Interior designers work with interior spaces such as houses, offices, and shops and make them functional and beautiful by applying their art style to the space. This job appeals to me because I enjoy working in 3D with my art and enjoy cresting common themes/color schemes between my pieces. I also like working on giving my pieces their own distinctive aesthetics, which I think would come in handy in this field.
Responsibilities of this job include meeting strict deadlines, being aware of accessibility needs, building codes, and inspection regulations, and basing their work off of the blue prints of a space. It is recommended that interior designers pursue higher education and get an associate, bachelors, or masters. It is also beneficial to take the NCIDQ examination, a certification program for those moving into specialty design.
Some of the top interior design colleges are Rhode Island School of Design, Pratt, and Florida State Institute. The main major needed for this career is interior design. VCU even offers a bachelor of fine arts in Interior Design program, which would be a good local option school size.
